Solapur district is well known for grape growing. Climatic conditions of this region are found suitable for raisin making. A group of 72 grape growers and raisin processors of South Solapur Taluka came together and formed a cluster and approached Govt of Maharashtra for financial support under Maharashtra State Industrial Cluster Development Programme (MSICDP). For this purpose ICAR-NRC for Grapes, Pune extended technical support to Solapur Raisin Processing Association (SPV). Mandrup Raisin Cluster is developed on idea to create Common Facility Centre of raisin processing. Quality of raisins will be improved after cleaning, sorting, grading, washing and packing under a roof. Today, i.e. 11th March, 2020 an agreement is signed between Dr R G Somkuwar, Director, ICAR-NRCG and Mr. Shivanand Shingadgaon, Director, Solapur Raisin Processing Association to assist this cluster technically as and when required.
